My Favorite Writing Assignment

              There are many writing assignments that Kathryn gives me in this quarter. However, I concern the topic "how do I deal with stress" for several reasons. First, through this assignment, I can have more time to really think about how I deal with stress. Usually, I don't care much about this because when I still in Vietnam, my parent always take care of me every time I got stress. Nevertheless, since I moved to Seattle, I have learned how to overcome the pressures and stress by myself. Moreover, thanks to this topic, I can have more experience in how to relieve stress. In this class, by comparing with others student's essay, I have learned many useful experiences that I rarely think about. Finally, this is my favorite writing assignment because I got 93 points in this. Therefore, the more I get higher point, the more I enjoy the assignment. All in all, even though there are many writing assignment that I have did  in this quarter, I prefer the topic "how do I deal with stress" to be the most interested topic in this quarter.  

Eagle

            There are many places that I can visit to in a sunny day. However, I concern Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park to be the most interested place. There are lots of famous arts which were made by many famous artists over there. Nevertheless, the "Eagle" which was made by Alexander Calder is the one that interested me the most. Generally, it takes me over 30 minutes for just organized the shape of the art. However, I just can realize the "eagle" after more than an hour. Basically, the "eagle" was made by steel and has a red painted. In my case, I think it's very hard for most people to realize the shape of this eagle. Instead of clearly making a shape of an eagle, the artist used many curves and straight lines in order to make it more artistic. Based on the image of an eagle, the artist has stimulated the creativity of the viewer. People just can realize the shape of this eagle when they stand in the right edge and use the right creativity. Moreover, when I stand in front of the Eagle, it made me feel like I'm so small compare to the majestic of the eagle. The art was showed all the posture of the eagle and so on. Therefore, in my opinion, I believe that this art is one of the most creativity arts I have ever seen.

Jumper

                 There are lot of movies I have watched since I moved to Seattle. However, I concern "Jumper" to be the most interested movie that I have ever seen recently. The film is about the man whose name's David. He was grew up with an alcoholic father who always bully him. One day, David found his special ability of himself. With that " special force", he can jump from space to another space just in a second. Day by day, he learned to control his power smoothly, and make it easily to use every where. He decided to use his power to gained money from banks. Therefore, after 8 years, in a comfortable house in New York, he became a wealthy man with enough money to use for all his lives. Unfortunately, David has to know the existence of the Paladins-who hunt " the jumper". This group contain a hundred people who always want to kill the jumper. After a war happened between Paladins and Jumper, David found that his mom was one of the Paladin. His mom has to leave him when he still young because all the member of Paladins have to kill the jumper, or they will be killed by other members. All in all, even though the content of this film is not so impressed, I still like this film since it show the special power that human always want to have. Just a glance, people can move from place to another place although the distance between them is thousand of miles.

Caramel Frappuccino

           This drink, which is named Caramel Frappuccino, is a kind of drink which was very popular in Starbucks coffee. Nowadays, many people often buy a soft drink in order to be prepared for their works. In my opinion, Caramel Frappuccino is absolutely my first choice. To make a good Caramel Frappucino at home is not quite easy for most people. It's a trend of works that require people to be really concentrate in every steps. Caramel Frappuccino often serve with whipped cream and caramel on the top. Also, you can put some chocolate chips and chocolate syrups to match the popular Java Chip Frappuccino. In short, even though there are many kind of coffee in the starbuck, I prefer to Caramel Frappuccino every time I go there.

My Hometown

            Hochiminh city, which was known as Saigon city before 1975, is my hometown. My hometown is the largest city in Vietnam which is in the top of economy and entertainment, also. There are over 7 million people live in Hochiminh and more than 3 million foreigner live in there. When I still in Hochiminh, I lived in a villa which was very nearby to the downtown. There are many clubs and bars around my house; therefore, it's very crowded and bustling at night. On the other hand, transportation in Hochiminh is very dangerous. Most Vietnamese often use motorcycles, which is cheaper than car and more flexible. Therefore, traffic jams always happen in my hometown. However, I believe that my hometown is one of the most safest place in the World. All in all, I miss my country and especially, I miss my hometown, where my parent still lives there, so much. 

My Favorite Place in Seattle

           There are lot of interesting places on Seattle. However, I like the Seattle Art Museum the most for several reasons. First, Sam is famous for their arts and pictures from many well-known artists. I can discover more about the arts from last century and nowadays. In addition, the artists from last century also interested me a lot. Therefore, go to the Seattle Art Museum give me a chance to improve my knowledge a lot. On the other hand, I enjoy the music a lot when I checking around the museum. Each areas has its own music. Therefore, I can relieve stress after working hard all day and also replenish my energy to prepare for the next day. Finally, whatever arts I see on the wall, it's always has instruction very clearly. The arrangement and the decoration in the  museum helps me easily find the arts that I want to see and so on. All in all, even though there are many places that interested me in Seattle, I still like to visit the Art Museum whenever I have a free time.

Lost in my hometown

        I still clearly remember that it was 1998 when I was 6 years old. I had a trip to visit my grandmother's home. My hometown is just a small village located to the Southwest of Saigon city. Therefore, there are lack of lights and vehicles in my hometown. One day, when I stayed home alone and played with my toys while my parent and my grandmother were talking in the kitchen. Suddenly, I saw a dog was nibbling my toys. Quickly, I followed the dog to get my toys back. However, the more the dog ran, the more I got far away from my home. I found that I ran too far away so I should go back. Nevertheless, I realized that everything surround me became so blur and I could not remember the way to go back. I just kept moving in the dark without any navigation. I walked through a field that had many tombs around. I did not know where I was going. I felt hungry and exhausted. Everything became so terrible. Suddenly, when thunder and lightning explode across the sky, I found a woman was standing in front of me. She wore a red cap with hair covered her face. She smiled at me and whispered. “Don’t scare little boy, I’m your neighbor”. My heart is beating as it wants to explode and I could not say anything because my mouth is freeze for it cold. Then, she took me to her house and called my parent. After that night, I have learned a biggest lesson for my life. Children should not go out without parent’s permission and do not moving when you get lost.

My Childhood best friend

         I still remember that it was 1999 when I was 7 years old. I studied at the International primary school in my hometown. One day, I met a little girl who came across my face. She wore a red cap with hair covered her face. She walked like a ghost and I don't even saw her face. However, I realized that I gonna make friend with her. After 3 months tried to talked to her, I finally became her best friend. In my memory, she is a beautiful girl, but she always afraid of showing her face to another peole because she has some scars. She has beautiful long brown light hair covered her eyes. Her eyes were brown and her eyebrows were thick and natural. Her nose was straight and thin. Even though I rarely saw her smile, but when she smiled, her smile showed gentle and lovely. In short, she is my best friend ever and I wanna she her again if I can.

Last Sunday

         Last Sunday, I woke up late at 11 pm and still felt so tired. However, I went to sport center with my friends in order to played badminton. Since i went to America, I became more interested in play sports. Therefore, I often play sports with my friends every weekend. After 5 hours in the game, I thought I need to go back to prepare for my school tomorrow. In the end of the day, I chat chit with friends and went to sleep. My weekend is so boring, but I still wait for another Sunday .

Valentine's day

            In my opinion, valentine is the day that represent love. Each couples use valentine's day to give each other flowers, chocolates and teddy bears. In my country, valentine's day is a very special day. They take time together in order to find some places to give each other special gifts. However, I do not have any experience about this day. I have been single for a very long long time. I hate seeing couples around me when I still single. Therefore, I do not like valentine's day. 

My country's writing style

              I believe that every country have their own writing style. In my country, "writing" is so complicated and difficult. Usually, one word can also have 2 differences meaning. One is physical meaning and other is mental meaning. Therefore, to use its in the right way is very challenging and  if you do not really understand. It could be a distortion. Moreover, the more words you write in your essay, the more points you will get for that. Teacher in my country often grade you based on how long your essay is and what ideas you mention in your essay. That why we usually "remember" exactly all of the samples in order to get higher point.

My attitude about writing

               In my case, I think writing is the best way to perform our opinion about the problems we want to mention. On the other hand, writing also the most effective method to share our feeling and our style. However, I also have some problems about my writing skill.

First, I think the biggest problem is my grammar. I always confuse about whether choose this kind of verb tense or the other one. Then, when I decide to choose this verb tense, I continue to think about whether I put it in the right places or not. 

Second, I have a problem on the words's repetition. I often repeat the same word in many different sentences. Therefore, I think I need to improve my vocabulary. 

Finally, writing style is always the hardest part of writing. International students from different country also have different writing style. Some from China, Japan , Korea, other from Vietnam, Thailand. Everybody have their own style. So do I. Therefore, I think to write in American style is the most important part that I should improve to be better in writing skill.

Hi My full name is Vo Nguyen Dang Khoa. Khoa is my first name and Vo is my last name. This is the first time I use this kind of blog. There are few things about me on the below.

First, I was born in HoChiMinh city,VietNam. My country locate  to the southeast of China and its a beautiful country. I'm 19 years old now and I also have 1 older sister. She lives in Houston,Texas with her husband family and she older than me by 5 years. My parent still in Vietnam and they probably move to America in summer 2013.

Second, my favorite sports is soccer and I usually playing soccer with friends every weekend. First time I saw David Beckham on Tv, I decided to become a soccer player. However, when I growth up, I realized that being a soccer player is not an suitable ways for me. Therefore, I decided to become a IT specialist.
